Sculpture of a reclining horse on a centerpiece or small vide poche-style empty pocket, hand-sculpted with crystal paste (pâte de verre), the same technique used by great artists such as Henry Berge or Amalric Walter, Rousseau, Daum Nancy, or the modern pieces of the Maison Daum France. An extremely rare piece with exceptional applied technique. Although its style differs greatly from his well-known vase and sculpture designs, the sculpture's great technical skill and detail resemble the great artist Gabriel Argy Rousseau, as the base is signed (very subtle signature and difficult to see) G. Argy Rousseau. Documentation of similar pieces produced by Daum has been sought but without success. Perhaps it is a work by another great artist and has been signed with Rousseau's name. We have no information about it, so we cannot confirm that it is an original work by Gabriel Argy Rousseau.
Unfortunately the piece shows some major damage, such as chips and cracks; both of the horse's ears are broken and the base has some hairs or cracks. These hairs or cracks do not compromise the structure of the piece; it is truly solid.
