The elegant Lobelia vase, designed by the renowned French glassmaker René Lalique, is an iconic piece of Art Deco glass.
Made of molded, pressed glass with a satin finish, this vase is distinguished by its refined relief work, where delicate plant forms inspired by the lobelia flower ascend vertically up the vase's body. The motifs alternate frosted surfaces with transparent polished areas, creating a subtle interplay of light and contrast that lends depth and sophistication to the piece.
Its slightly flared silhouette, with a wide mouth and balanced profile, gives it a sculptural and elegant presence, perfect both as a standalone decorative piece and for enhancing floral arrangements. The characteristic satin finish softens the light and highlights the ornamental relief, an unmistakable hallmark of Lalique design.
The Lobelia model was originally conceived in the 1920s, reflecting the stylized naturalist spirit that marked the transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco, and it continues to be one of the most prized creations among collectors of French glass.
Condition: defects on the base. The base is scratched from use and has several chips or chips. It is true that the chips are not visible when the vase is displayed upright. Please see the detailed photographs as they form part of the description. Otherwise, the vase is in good condition.
There is a very faded signature on the bottom with the inscription 'Lalique France' from the mid-20th century, possibly the 1970s or 80s. See the last photograph for details.
