A beautiful and striking modernist sculptural group known as the Goat Rider or 'Ziegenreiter,' designed by Entwurf Wilhelm Süs in the 19th century.
I want to emphasize and state my transparency and most sincere, humble opinion regarding this particular piece. This sculptural model is known and/or identified by the registration number 1003, and this number is engraved on the back of the base of these models. Therefore, the model offered should have this number engraved on it, but it does not. The piece offered in this listing has the number 1002 engraved on it. This is very strange and leads one to believe that it is obviously a copy. But honestly, and from my humble but by no means ignorant opinion, as I have been dealing with similar pieces from the Karlsruhe manufacturer for over 20 years, I can almost say with 99% certainty that this piece offered is not a mere copy. The quality of detail in its form, along with the color tones, its weight and dimensions, and the manufacturing process evidenced by the marks on the base, lead me to conclude that it is an original piece, albeit with a typographical error in the model's label at the time of engraving. Furthermore, this piece comes from a bourgeois home that housed exceptional works of art, and it was found in an abandoned room with a patina of dense dust that was difficult to remove.
