An exceptional gravy boat or sauce separator designed by the Italian master Lino Sabattini for the prestigious French firm Christofle, one of the most renowned manufacturers of luxury silverware in the 20th century.
Made around the 1960s, this elegant piece combines the formal purity characteristic of modernist design with extraordinary craftsmanship. The contrast between the silver-plated metal and the warm wooden handle provides visual balance and functionality, making it a refined tableware piece and, at the same time, a true collector's item.
Its design was conceived to separate fats or sediment from sauces when serving them, a solution as ingenious as it is elegant, reflecting the attention to detail characteristic of Sabattini's great designs. Its fluid, sculptural lines make it a representative piece of the finest postwar European design.
This particular example also has a particularly interesting provenance, as it comes from the old stock of a jewelry store. This is therefore a genuine "New Old Stock" (NOS) piece, preserved for decades without domestic use. It still retains the original store label with the original retail price: 22,500 pesetas (equivalent to €135.23), an exceptional detail that adds historical and documentary value to the piece.
Very good condition. It shows only the light patina and minimal surface signs resulting from the passage of time and prolonged storage, common characteristics of antique original stock pieces. No structural damage or repairs are visible.
A magnificent opportunity to acquire an original piece by Lino Sabattini for Christofle, difficult to find in this condition and with its original label intact. Ideal for collectors of Italian design, modern silverware, designer tableware, and Mid-Century Modern decor.
